     Francis Vernon, 1st Earl of Shipbrook was born in 1715.1 He was the son of James Vernon and Arethusa Boyle.1 He married Alice Ibbetson.1 He died on 15 October 1783.1
     He was created 1st Lord Orwell in 1762. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich between 1762 and 1768.1 He gained the title of 1st Viscount Orwell in 1776. He gained the title of 1st Earl of Shipbrook in 1777.
