     He was educated at St. Columba's College, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He gained the rank of Assistant Chaplain-General between 1915 and 1920 in the Eastern Command. He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.1 He was the Chaplain in 1924 at St. MaxineG.1 He was the Chaplain between 1924 and 1925 at Capri, ItalyG.1 He was the Chaplain between 1925 and 1929 at Grasse, FranceG.1
