     Major Loftus Edward Coore Inglefield was born on 23 October 1848 at Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He was the son of Samuel Hood Stovin Inglefield and Charlotte Coore.1 He married Eleanor Pauncefote, daughter of Bernard Pauncefote and Eliza Louisa Philips, in 1881 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England.1 He died on 5 January 1885 at age 36 at Wadi Halfa, Sudan.1
     He was commissioned in 1868 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 32nd Foot.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1880.1 He fought in the Nile Expedition.1
