He was the son of Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava and Hariot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton. He married Florence Davis, daughter of John H. Davis, on 16 October 1893. He died on 11 February 1919 at age 52 at Putney, London, England, from double pneumonia.1
     Terence John Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava gained the title of 2nd Marquess of Dufferin and Ava.

     Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava was born on 21 June 1826 at Florence, Italy.3 He was the son of Price Blackwood, 4th Baron Dufferin and Helen Selina Sheridan.2 He married Hariot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton, daughter of Archibald Rowan Rowan-Hamilton and Catherine Anne Caldwell, on 23 October 1862.4 He died on 12 February 1902 at age 75 at Clandeboye, Ireland.3
     Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava was invested as a Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.).4 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.).4 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.).4 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).4 He was invested as a Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.).4 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).4 He was invested as a Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.).4 He gained the title of 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava.      Hariot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton was the daughter of Archibald Rowan Rowan-Hamilton and Catherine Anne Caldwell.2 She married Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava, son of Price Blackwood, 4th Baron Dufferin and Helen Selina Sheridan, on 23 October 1862.1 She died on 25 October 1936.1
     Hariot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton was invested as a Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.).1 She was decorated with the award of Grand Commander, Order of the Shefkat of Turkey.1 She was decorated with the award of Order of the Lion and Sun of Persia.1 She was invested as a Lady, Royal Order of Victoria and Albert (V.A.).1 Her married name became Hamilton-Blackwood. From 13 November 1872, her married name became Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood. She was invested as a Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1917.1
