     Charles Henry Basset was born on 16 November 1834.3 He was the son of Sir William Williams, 1st Bt. and Caroline Eales.2 He married Harriet Mary Basset, daughter of Arthur Davie Basset, on 7 January 1858.3 He died on 1 February 1908 at age 73.3
     Charles Henry Basset was baptised with the name of Charles Henry Williams.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1848 in the service of the Royal Navy.3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal North Devon Hussars.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Barnstaple between 1868 and 1874.3 On 1880 his name was legally changed to Charles Henry Basset.3 He lived at Pilton House, Umberleigh, Devon, England.1 He lived at Watermouth Castle, Devon, England.1

     Harriet Mary Basset was the daughter of Arthur Davie Basset.2 She married Charles Henry Basset, son of Sir William Williams, 1st Bt. and Caroline Eales, on 7 January 1858.1 She died on 12 May 1920.1
     From 7 January 1858, her married name became Williams. From 1880, her married name became Basset.3

     Sir William Williams, 1st Bt. was born on 3 August 1791.2 He was the son of John Williams and Catherine Harvey.1 He married Caroline Eales, daughter of Richard Eales, on 26 September 1826.2 He died on 24 March 1870 at age 78.3
     Sir William Williams, 1st Bt. held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cornwall.2 He was Deputy-Warden of the Stannaries in 1851.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cornwall in 1851. He was created 1st Baronet Williams, of Tregullow, Cornwall [U.K.] on 4 August 1866.2 He had three other daughters, who all died either young or unmarried.2
