     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy.¹

     Archibald William Houston Shaw-Stewart was born on 18 November 1864.¹ He was the son of Admiral Sir William Houston Shaw-Stewart and Catherine Elizabeth Coote.² He married Flora Sarah Anne Beeson, daughter of Thomas Beeson, on 17 December 1891.¹ He died on 29 May 1946 at age 81.¹
