     Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard was born on 6 May 1818.1 He was the son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.1 He married Ida Gabrielle Betts, daughter of Thomas Betts and Charlotte Betts.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Bengal Staff Corps.1

     Ida Gabrielle Betts was born circa 1828.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Betts and Charlotte Betts.1 She married Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard, son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.1 She died on 24 February 1904 at Hassio.1
     Her married name became Layard.1

     Julian Henry Layard was born on 15 May 1850.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard and Ida Gabrielle Betts.1 He died on 24 September 1877 at age 27 at Shipka Pass, Bulgaria, unmarried.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 37th Regiment.1 He was Military Attaché with the Turkish Army under Osman Pasha.1

     Major Arthur Austen Macgregor Layard was born on 7 June 1857.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Frederick Peter Layard and Ida Gabrielle Betts.1 He married Winifred Alice Strickland on 30 March 1896.1
     He fought in the Sudan Campaign in 1885.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.1

Frederic Strickland1

     Frederic Strickland was born on 7 November 1867.2 He is the son of Sir Charles William Strickland, 8th Bt. and Anne Elizabeth Nevile.3,4 He married Mary Beatrix Thornycroft, daughter of Sir John Thornycroft, on 21 July 1903.2 He died on 12 June 1934 at age 66.2
     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Service Corps.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the North Riding, Yorkshire.2
