     Richard Archibald Fortescue, 7th Earl Fortescue was born on 14 April 1922.1 He was the son of Denzil George Fortescue, 6th Earl Fortescue and Marjorie Ellinor Trotter.1 He married, firstly, Penelope Jane Henderson, daughter of Robert Evelyn Henderson, on 24 October 1949.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Anne Stratton, daughter of Charles Michael Stratton, on 3 March 1961.2 He and Margaret Anne Stratton were divorced in 1987.2 He married, thirdly, Carolyn Mary Hill, daughter of Major Clement Walter Rowland Hill and Violet Alice Valentine Phillimore, on 5 January 1989.2 He died on 7 March 1993 at age 70.2
     Richard Archibald Fortescue, 7th Earl Fortescue was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Coldstream Guards.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Earl Fortescue [G.B., 1789] on 1 June 1977.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Viscount Ebrington, co. Gloucester [G.B., 1789] on 1 June 1977.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill, co. Devon [G.B., 1746] on 1 June 1977.1

     Her married name became Fortescue. As a result of her marriage, Margaret Anne Stratton was styled as Countess Fortescue on 1 June 1977. From 28 January 1988, her married name became Hambro.1
