He married, firstly, Lady Moira Beatrice Forbes, daughter of Arthur Patrick Hastings Forbes, 9th Earl of Granard and Marie Madeleine Eugenie Maurel, on 2 February 1971.1 He and Lady Moira Beatrice Forbes were divorced in 1974.1 He married, secondly, Alyette Isabelle Odile Marie Prinzessin von Croÿ, daughter of Rodolphe Etienne Alexandra Antoine Marie Prinz von Croÿ and Odile de Bailleul, on 23 January 1976.

     Lady Sarah Elizabeth Jane Finch-Knightley was born on 14 July 1950.1 She was the daughter of Charles Ian Finch-Knightley, 11th Earl of Aylesford and Margaret Rosemary Tyer.1 She married Angus Nigel Garnet Maclean, 8th of Kilmoluaig, son of Major Gordon Maclean, on 5 September 1974.1 She died on 28 September 2005 at age 55, from cancer.2
     From 5 September 1974, her married name became Maclean.1
