     Vice-Admiral Kenneth Gilbert Balmain Dewar was born on 21 September 1879.2 He is the son of James Dewar and Jane Flora Wotherspoon.1 He married Gertrude Mary Stapleton-Bretherton, daughter of Frederick Annesley Stapleton-Bretherton and Hon. Isabella Mary Petre, on 28 July 1914.2 He died on 8 September 1964 at age 84.2
     Lab Parly candidate Portsmouth.2 He was educated RNC Britannia.2 Gold Medal RUSI.2 He was RN: joined , Midshipman 1895, Lieutenant 1900, Commander 1911, Captain 1918, Assist Dir Plans Div Naval Staff 1917, Dep Dir Naval Intell Div 1925–27, OC HM Ships Royal Oak and Tiger 1928–29, R-Adml 1929, V-Adml 1934, Aide-de-Camp to HM GEORGE V, r in 1893.2 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.2 He wrote the book The Navy from Within, published 1939.2
