     Martin John Sutton was born on 25 October 1850 at Reading, Berkshire, England.2 He was the son of Martin Hope Sutton and Sophia Woodhead Warwick.2 He married, firstly, Emily Owen Foquett, daughter of Colonel Henry Foquett and Frances Phillips, in 1875 at Kingston On Thames, Surrey, England.2 He married, secondly, Grace Faith Salvation Studd, daughter of Charles Thomas Studd and Priscilla Livingstone Stewart, on 14 February 1912.1 He died on 14 December 1913 at age 63 at Piccadilly Hotel, London, England.1
     He was with Sutton & Sons, seed merchants.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He held the office of Mayor of Reading in 1904.2 He lived at Wargrave Manor, Berkshire, England.1
