Sir George William Stafford Jerningham, 8th Baron Stafford was born on 21 April 1771. He was the son of Sir William Jerningham, 6th Bt. and Frances Dillon. He married, firstly, Frances Henrietta Sulyarde, daughter of Edward Sulyarde, on 26 December 1799. He married, secondly, Elizabeth Caton, daughter of Richard Caton, on 26 May 1836. He died on 4 October 1851 at age 80.
