     Sir Ernest Oppenheimer was born on 22 May 1880 at Friedberg, Germany.1 He was the son of Eduard Oppenheimer and Nanette (?)1,2 He married, firstly, May Pollack.1 He married, secondly, Caroline Magdalen Harvey, daughter of Sir Robert Grenville Harvey, 2nd Bt. and Emily Blanche Murray, on 1 June 1935. He died on 25 November 1957 at age 77 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.1
     He was founder of the Anglo American Corporation of South Africa.1
