     Major Thomas William Edward Coke, 5th Earl of Leicester of Holkham was born on 16 May 1908.1 He was the son of Thomas William Coke, 4th Earl of Leicester of Holkham and Marion Gertrude Trefusis.1 He married Lady Elizabeth Mary Yorke, daughter of Charles Alexander Yorke, 8th Earl of Hardwicke and Ellen Russell, on 1 October 1931.2 He died on 3 September 1976 at age 68.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was Equerry to HRH the Duke of York between 1934 and 1937.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1937.1 He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM King George VI between 1937 and 1952.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Commander-in-Chief, Middle East in 1941.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk in 1944.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Coke [U.K., 1837] on 21 August 1949.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Leicester of Holkham, co. Norfolk [U.K., 1837] on 21 August 1949.1 He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the 1st Cadet Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment.1 He was awarded the Royal Order of George I of Greece in 1963.1
