     Vice-Admiral Edward William Elphinstone Wemyss was born on 11 June 1866.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Henry Manley Wemyss and Harriet Vincent Sheriff.1 He married Muriel Swiney, daughter of Colonel G. C. Swiney, on 27 April 1905.1 He died on 3 December 1938 at age 72.1
