He married, firstly, Charlotte Frederike Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, daughter of Friedrich Franz I Großherzog von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Luise Prinzessin von Sachsen-Gotha-Roda, on 21 June 1806 at Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.1,2 He and Charlotte Frederike Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin were divorced in 1810.1 He married, secondly, Karoline Amelia Prinzessin von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, daughter of Friedrich Christian II Herzog von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg and Louise Augusta Oldenburg, Princess of Denmark, on 22 May 1815 at Augustenborg, Jylland, Denmark.3 He died on 20 January 1848 at age 61 at Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark.4,2

Frederik Ferdinand Oldenburg, Prince of Denmark was born on 22 November 1792 at Copenhagen, Denmark.2 He was the son of Frederik Oldenburg, Crown Prince of Denmark and Sophie Friederike Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He married Caroline Oldenburg, Princess of Denmark, daughter of Frederik VI Oldenburg, King of Denmark and Marie Sophie Friederike Prinzessin von Hessen-Kassel, on 1 August 1829 at Fredericksborg, Denmark.2 He died on 29 June 1863 at age 70 at Copenhagen, Denmark, without issue.2

Charlotte Frederike Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin was born on 4 December 1784.2 She was the daughter of Friedrich Franz I Großherzog von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Luise Prinzessin von Sachsen-Gotha-Roda.2 She married Christian VIII Frederik Oldenburg, King of Denmark, son of Frederik Oldenburg, Crown Prince of Denmark and Sophie Friederike Herzogin von Mecklenburg-Schwerin, on 21 June 1806 at Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.1,3 She and Christian VIII Frederik Oldenburg, King of Denmark were divorced in 1810.1 She died on 13 July 1840 at age 55 at Rome, Italy.2
