     Sir Maurice Berkeley was born circa 1505.2 He was the son of Richard Berkeley and Elizabeth Coningsby.1,2 He married, firstly, Catherine Blount, daughter of William Blount, 4th Baron Mountjoy and Alice Keble, before 1547.3 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Sands, daughter of Anthony Sands, in 1562.4 He died on 11 August 1581.
     He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.)1 He lived at Bruton, Somerset, EnglandG.3 He was standard-bearer to King Henry VIII, and King Edward VI, and to Queen Elizabeth.2 Of this gentleman it is mentioned, that, in the 1st year of Queen Mary, riding casually in London, he met with Sir Thomas Wyat at Temple Bar, and persuading him to yield himself to the queen, Sir Thomas took his advise, and mounting behind Sir Maurice , rode to the court.

He married (1) Catherine, daughter of William Blount Baron Mountjoy, and was ancestor of the Berkeleys of Bruton, and of Pylle, of Berkeley Portman Lord Portman, and the Berkeleys, Viscount Fitz-Harding,

Maurice married (2) Elizabeth Sandes, daughter of Anthony Sandes, Esq., and by her was ancestor of the Berkeleys of Boycot, co. Kent. From his second marriage there were two sons and a daughter.

     Sir Maurice Berkeley was born in 1577.2 He was the son of Sir Henry Berkeley and Margaret Lygon.1,2 He married Elizabeth Killigrew, daughter of Sir Henry Killigrew, in 1597.3 He died on 15 January 1616/17.2
     He was appointed Knight in 1596 from the Earl of Essex, while serving under that nobleman in the expedition to Calais.2 He lived at Bruton, Somerset, EnglandG.4

     Charles Berkeley, 2nd Viscount Fitzhardinge of Berehaven was born on 14 December 1599.3 He was the son of Sir Maurice Berkeley and Elizabeth Killigrew.1,3 He married Penelope Godolphin, daughter of Sir William Godolphin and Thomasin Sidney, on 6 September 1627.3 He died on 12 June 1668 at age 68.1,3
     He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Fitzhardinge of Berehaven [I., 1663] on 3 June 1665.4
