     General Sir Edward Pemberton Leach, V.C. was born on 2 April 1847 at Londonderry, County Londonderry, Ireland.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir George Archibald Leach.1 He married Elizabeth Mary Bazley, daughter of Sir Thomas Sebastian Bazley, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Gardner, in 1883.1 He died on 26 April 1913 at age 66 at Cadenabbia, Italy.1,2 He was buried at Grienze Church, Cadenabbia, Italy.2
     General Sir Edward Pemberton Leach, V.C. fought in the Second Afghan War in 1878.2 He was decorated with the award of Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 9 December 1879, for his actions on 17 March 1879.1,2 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.).1 He gained the rank of General in the service of the Royal Engineers.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.).1
