     Beilby Eric Smith was born on 26 November 1864.1 He was the son of Eric Carrington Smith and Mary Maberly.1 He married Elizabeth Mabel Cotton, daughter of Rowland Hugh Cotton and Mary Louisa Bill, in 1887.1
