     Sir Edwin Savory Herbert, Baron Tangley was born on 29 June 1899 at Egham, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Henry William Herbert and Harriet Lizzie Elmes.2 He married Gwendolen Hilda Judd, daughter of Thomas Langley Judd, on 29 December 1932.2 He died on 5 June 1973 at age 73.1
     Sir Edwin Savory Herbert, Baron Tangley was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1956.1,2 He was created Baron Tangley, of Blackheath in the County of Surrey [U.K. Life Peer] on 22 January 1964.1
