He married Luise Gräfin Reuss zu Schleiz, daughter of Heinrich I Graf Reuss zu Schleiz and Juliane Dorothea zu Löwenstein-Wertheim, on 27 May 1743. He died on 19 July 1748 at age 42 at Roda, Germany.

     Christiane Emilie von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen was born on 13 March 1681. She was the daughter of Christian Wilhelm Prinz von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and Antonie Sybille von Barby-Muhlingen. She married Adolf Friedrich II Herzog von Mecklenburg-Strelitz, son of Adolf Friedrich I von Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Marie Katherine von Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Dannenberg, on 10 June 1705. She died on 1 November 1751 at age 70.
     From 10 June 1705, her married name became von Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

He was the son of Anton Günther Graf von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and Marie Magdalen von Birkenfeld. He married, firstly, Antonie Sybille von Barby-Muhlingen, daughter of Albrecht Friedrich Graf von Barby-Muhlingen and Sophie Ursula von Oldenburg, on 22 August 1673. He married, secondly, Wilhelmine Christine von Sachsen-Weimar, daughter of Johann Ernst II Herzog von Sachsen-Weimar and Christiane Elisabeth von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Franzhagen, on 25 September 1684 at Sondershausen, Germany. He died on 10 May 1721 at age 74 at Sondershausen, Germany.
     Christian Wilhelm Prinz von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen gained the title of Prinz von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen.
