     Mary Stourton was born on 24 September 1925. She is the daughter of Major Hon. John Joseph Stourton and Kathleen Alice Gunther.1 She married Sir Anthony Gerard Edward Noel, 5th Earl of Gainsborough, son of Sir Arthur Edward Joseph Noel, 4th Earl of Gainsborough and Alice Mary Eyre, on 23 July 1947.1
     As a result of her marriage, Mary Stourton was styled as Countess of Gainsborough on 23 July 1947. From 23 July 1947, her married name became Noel.
