James Cadman was born on 11 December 1878.1 He was the son of James Cope Cadman and Betty Keeling.2 He married Una Mildred Tate, daughter of Simon Tate, in 1900.1 He died on 8 September 1947 at age 68, killed in a car crash.1
James Cadman fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant in 1914 in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 3rd Cavalry Division.1 He was decorated with the award of Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1915.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Newcastle-under-Lyme.1 He was Master of Foxhounds of North Staffordshire.1 He was a director of the National Provident Bank.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Staffordshire.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1933.1 He lived at Walton Hall, Staffordshire, England.1
