     Lady Kathleen Mary Cairns was born on 30 July 1870.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Hugh MacCalmont Cairns, 1st Earl Cairns and Mary Harriet MacNeile.² She married Reverend Edward Francis Whateley Eliot, son of Rev. Canon William Eliot, on 30 July 1896.¹ She died on 17 February 1939 at age 68.¹

     Brigadier Hugh Wilfred John Cairns, Viscount Garmoyle was styled as Viscount Garmoyle between 1910 and 1942.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the GOC-in-Charge of Southern Command between 1937 and 1938.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in the service of the Rifle Brigade.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was decorated with the Companion of the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)
