Lady Hester Margaret Cairns was born on 3 August 1895.1 She is the daughter of Wilfred Dallas Cairns, 4th Earl Cairns and Olive Cobbold.2 She married Rt. Hon. Robert Croft Bourne, son of Colonel Gilbert Charles Bourne, on 7 June 1917.1
From 7 June 1917, her married name became Bourne. She was Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party Organisation and President of the National Society Cconsefvative and Unionist Women Organisers between 1939 and 1943.1
