     Lady Katharine Olive Cairns was born on 14 March 1912.1 She was the daughter of Wilfred Dallas Cairns, 4th Earl Cairns and Olive Cobbold.2 She died on 18 March 1955 at age 43, unmarried.1
     She graduated from St. Hilda's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 She gained the rank of Senior Commander in the service of the Auxiliary Territorial Service.1

     Sir Robert Hamilton Bruce Lockhart was born on 2 September 1887 at Anstruther, Fife, Scotland.2 He was the son of Robert Bruce Lockhart and Florence Stuart Macgregor.1,3 He married, firstly, Jean Haslewood Turner, daughter of Leonard Turner, in 1913.1 He and Jean Haslewood Turner were divorced in 1938.1 He married, secondly, Frances Mary Beck, daughter of Maj.-Gen. E. A. Beck, in 1948.3 He died on 27 February 1970 at age 82 at Hove, Sussex, England.1,2
     He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1943.1 He was an author, broadcaster, journalist and diplomat.1 He wrote the book Memoirs of a British Agent.1

      From 1913, her married name became Bruce Lockhart.1
