Sir David Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford was the son of Sir Alexander Lindsay, 2nd Earl of Crawford and Marjorie Dunbar.2 He married Marjory Ogilvy, daughter of Sir Walter Ogilvy of Auchterhouse and Isabel Ramsay, circa March 1422/23.3 He died on 17 January 1445/46 at Finhaven Castle, Angus, Scotland, after being wounded 4 days earlier, while trying to stop a bloody fray between the Ogilvies and the Lindsays.3
Sir David Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Aberdeenshire.4 He was invested as a Knight before 17 November 1425.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Aberdeenshire.2 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] in 1438.2
