     Lt.-Cdr. John Timothy Fetherston-Dilke was born on 4 February 1926.² He is the son of Beaumont Albany Fetherston-Dilke and Phoebe Stella Roland-Bedford.^3,2 He married Kathleen Idonea Cresswell Chance, daughter of Sir William Hugh Stobart Chance and Cynthia May Baker-Cresswell, on 31 March 1956.¹ He and Kathleen Idonea Cresswell Chance were divorced in 1965.¹
     He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.² He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.¹ He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.).¹
