Sir Alexander Davidson Grierson of Lag, 9th Bt. was born on 30 November 1858 at Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Commander William Charles Grierson and Emma Sophia Comerford.1 He married Fannie White, daughter of Major George White, on 7 December 1882.1 He died on 1 April 1912 at age 53 at London, England.3,2

Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 27 December 1879.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dumfries-shire.3 He gained the rank of Major and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 3rd Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers Militia.1 He fought in the Boer War.2
