     James Cowper was the son of Sir William Cowper, 1st Bt. and Martha Master.1 He married Mary Wroth, daughter of Sir Henry Wroth and Elizabeth Maynard.1 He died circa 5 August 1683, without issue.1 He was buried on 8 August 1683 at Enfield, London, England.

     Mary Wroth was the daughter of Sir Henry Wroth and Elizabeth Maynard.1,2 She married, firstly, James Cowper, son of Sir William Cowper, 1st Bt. and Martha Master.1 She married, secondly, George Howard, 4th Earl of Suffolk, son of Theophilus Howard, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Lady Elizabeth Home, circa 1686.1 She died in July 1710.2
     She was also known as Anne Wroth.2 Her married name became Howard.1 Her married name became Cowper.1
