     James Cowper was the son of Sir William Cowper, 1st Bt. and Martha Master.1 He married Mary Wroth, daughter of Sir Henry Wroth.1 He died circa 5 August 1683, without issue.1 He was buried on 8 August 1683 at Enfield, London, England.

     Mary Wroth is the daughter of Sir Henry Wroth.1 She married, firstly, James Cowper, son of Sir William Cowper, 1st Bt. and Martha Master.1 She married, secondly, George Howard, 4th Earl of Suffolk, son of Theophilus Howard, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Lady Elizabeth Home, circa 1686.1
     Her married name became Howard.1 Her married name became Cowper.1
