Very Rev. James Henry Cotton was born on 8 February 1781.1 He was the son of Reverend George Cotton and Katherine Maria Tomkinson.2 He married, firstly, Mary Anne Majendie, daughter of Rt. Rev. W. H. Majendie, on 14 April 1810.1 He married, secondly, Mary Fisher, daughter of Samuel Fisher, in 1826.1 He died in May 1862 at age 81.1
