     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.6 He was chief engineer of the Great Western Railway Company between 1904 and 1923.6 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.1,6 He was president of the Institution of Civil Engineers between 1929 and 1930.6 He lived at Myskyns, Ticehurst, Sussex, EnglandG.1
