     John Bury Curran was born in 1791 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was the son of James Curran and Ann Bury.1 He married, firstly, Mary Ann Hatton.1 He married, secondly, Letitia Baxter in 1835 at Church of England Church, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1 He died in 1838 at Garden Cottage, Hyde Park, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1 He was buried at Bunnerong Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1
     John Bury Curran gained the rank of Sergeant in 1819 at India in the service of the Dublin 17th Dragoons (Light).1 He emigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, arriving on September 1826 on board Orpheus.1 He gained the rank of Sergeant-Major at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, in the service of the 17th Dragoons (Light).1
