William Archdale was the son of Edward Archdale and Angel Gore.1 He married Elizabeth Mervyn, daughter of Henry Mervyn, in 1677.1 He died in 1722.1
William Archdale held the office of High Sheriff in 1667, and again in 1692.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He lived at Old Castle Archdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland,, which had been rebuilt, but was again destroyed by fire during the 'troubles' in 1689.1 He held the office of member, Commission of Array for County Fermanagh, during the time of Queen Anne.1

Colonel Mervyn Archdale graduated from Trinity Church, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1705 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1708 in the service of the Colonel Irvine's Militia Regiment of Dragoons.1 He held the office of High Sheriff in 1714.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1715 in the service of the Dragoon Regiment of Fermanagh.1 As of 1722, Colonel Mervyn Archdale was considered the head of the Archdale family, succeeding his father, William Archdale.1 He lived at Castle Archdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland.1
