Captain Robert Blakeney was born in 1788.2 He was the son of Robert Blakeney and Judith Ryland.2 He married Contessa Julia Balbi in 1823 at Corfu, Greece.2 He died in 1855 at Paxo, Greece, where he had lived for 21 years.2
Captain Robert Blakeney gained the rank of Ensign in 1804 in the service of the 28th Regiment of Foot.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1805.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1812 in the service of the 36th Regiment of Foot.2 He fought in the Peninsula War, where he was mentioned in despatches from the Duke of Wellington on 14 November 1814.2 He was in the service of Lord Nugent at Corfu, Greece.2 He lived at Paxo, Greece.2
