     Lt.-Col. Alten Augustus William Beamish was born on 24 September 1841.¹ He was the son of Richard Beamish and Theodosia Mary Heise.¹ He married May Ross Gillepsie, daughter of Sir John Gillepsie, on 20 December 1892.¹ He died on 21 March 1902 at age 60.¹
