     Samuel Long was born on 16 August 1746.1 He was the son of Beeston Long and Sarah Cropp.1 He married Lady Jane Maitland, daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Lombe, on 31 December 1787 at Walthamstow, Essex, England.1 He died on 19 October 1807 at age 61 at Berkeley Square, London, England.1

     Lady Jane Maitland was the daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Lombe.1 She married Samuel Long, son of Beeston Long and Sarah Cropp, on 31 December 1787 at Walthamstow, Essex, England.1 She died on 1 June 1833 at Gibraltar.1
     From 31 December 1787, her married name became Long.1
