Cecil Robert Vesey Stoney was born on 10 June 1875.1 He was the son of Thomas Butler Stoney and Annie Olphert.1 He married, firstly, Frances Maria Mackenzie, daughter of Reverend C. H. Mackenzie, on 3 April 1902.1 He married, secondly, Eleanor Hunt, daughter of Canon H. Hunt, on 8 July 1914.1 He died on 6 June 1918 at age 42.1
