     Sylvester Douglas, 1st and last Baron Glenbervie was born on 24 May 1743.2 He married Lady Catherine Anne North, daughter of Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford and Anne Speke, on 25 September 1789.1 He died on 2 May 1823 at age 79, without surviving male issue.2
     He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1793.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1794.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1794.2 He held the office of Chief Secretary of Ireland between 1794 and 1795.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for St. Canice [Ireland] between 1794 and 1796.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Fowey between 1795 and 1796.2 He was Commissioner of the Board of Control between 1795 and 1806.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Midhurst between 1796 and 1800.2 He held the office of a Lord of the Treasury between 1797 and 1800.2 He was created 1st Baron Glenbervie, co. Kincardine [Ireland] on 30 November 1800.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Plympton between 1801 and 1802.2 He held the office of Jont Paymaster-General between 1801 and 1803.2 He held the office of Vice-President of the Board of Trade between 1801 and 1804.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Hastings between 1802 and 1806.2 On his death, his title became extinct.2
