Brig.-Gen. Ralph Maximilian Yorke1

     Brig.-Gen. Ralph Maximilian Yorke was born on 22 October 1874.1 He was the son of John Reginald Yorke and Sophia Matilde Henriëtte Bilitonia Barones van Tuyll van Serooskerken.2 He married Hon. Muriel Fanny Herschell, daughter of Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban and Agnes Adela Porcher, on 4 October 1906.1 He died on 25 February 1951 at age 76.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 11th Hussars.1 He gained the rank of Boer War in 1902.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was awarded the Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus of Italy.1 He was awarded the Commander, Order of the Crown of Romania.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Gloucester Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1921.1

Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban1

     Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban was born on 2 November 1837.2 He was the son of Reverend Ridley Henry Herschell and Helen Mowbray.2 He married Agnes Adela Porcher, daughter of Edward Leigh Kindersley Porcher, on 20 December 1876.2 He died on 1 March 1899 at age 61.2
     He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1860 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1872.2 He held the office of Recorder of Carlisle between 1873 and 1880.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Duham between 1874 and 1885.2 He held the office of Solicitor-General between 1880 and 1885.2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor in 1886.2 He was created 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban [U.K.] on 8 February 1886.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent.2 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.)2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Durham.2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor between 1892 and 1895.2 He held the office of Chancellor of London University in 1893.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1893.2

     Hon. Muriel Fanny Herschell was born on 4 April 1883.2 She was the daughter of Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell of the City of Durban and Agnes Adela Porcher.2 She married Brig.-Gen. Ralph Maximilian Yorke, son of John Reginald Yorke and Sophia Matilde Henriëtte Bilitonia Barones van Tuyll van Serooskerken, on 4 October 1906.1 She died on 26 October 1956 at age 73.1
     From 4 October 1906, her married name became Yorke.

     From 24 April 1948, her married name became Fullerton.

     James Charles Yorke was born on 6 February 1816.1 He was the son of Joseph Yorke and Catherine Cocks.2 He married Georgiana Augusta Hawkins, daughter of Reverend Charles Hawkins and Anna Augusta Cockburn, on 31 October 1839.1 He died on 5 January 1867 at age 50.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Dragoon Guards.1
