     Lady Margaret Judith Marquis was born on 21 August 1917.2 She was the daughter of Frederick James Marquis, 1st Earl of Woolton and Maud Smith.1,2 She married Major John Hele Sandeman-Allen, son of Colonel John Sandeman-Allen, on 7 April 1945.1 She died on 4 March 1986 at age 68.2
     She was Junior Commander, Auxiliary Territorial Service during Second World War.1 From 7 April 1945, her married name became Sandeman-Allen. She was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1

     Frederick James Marquis, 1st Earl of Woolton was born on 24 August 1883.2 He was the son of Thomas Robert Marquis and Margaret Ormerod.3,2 He married, firstly, Maud Smith, daughter of Thomas Smith and Augusta Matthews, on 10 October 1912 at Chorlton, Manchester, Lancashire, England.4 He married, secondly, Margaret Eluned Thomas, daughter of Richard Thomas, on 19 October 1962.2 He died on 14 December 1964 at age 81.2
     He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Manchester, Lancashire, England.2 He graduated from Manchester University, Manchester, Lancashire, England, in 1906 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)2 He graduated from Manchester University, Manchester, Lancashire, England, in 1912 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was with the Allied Commission, War Office.2 He was Secretary to Leather Control Board between 1918 and 1920.2 He was chairman of Lewis's Investment Trust between 1926 and 1939.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Liverpool.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Liverpool.2 He was appointed Knight in 1935.2 He was created 1st Baron Woolton, of Liverpool, co.      Maud Smith was the daughter of Thomas Smith and Augusta Matthews.2 She married Frederick James Marquis, 1st Earl of Woolton, son of Thomas Robert Marquis and Margaret Ormerod, on 10 October 1912 at Chorlton, Manchester, Lancashire, England.1 She died on 13 September 1961.2
     From 10 October 1912, her married name became Marquis.1 After her marriage, Maud Smith was styled as Baroness Woolton on 7 July 1939. After her marriage, Maud Smith was styled as Viscountess Woolton on 2 July 1953. After her marriage, Maud Smith was styled as Countess of Woolton on 9 January 1956.
