     Sir Alexander Muir Mackenzie of Delvine, 1st Bt. was born on 2 March 1764.1 He was the son of George Muir and Margaret Mackenzie.2 He married Jane Murray, daughter of Sir Robert Murray of Dunerne, 6th Bt. and Susan Renton, on 6 September 1787.1 He died on 11 March 1835 at age 71.1
     He was given the name of Alexander Muir at birth.1 His name was legally changed to Alexander Muir Mackenzie added on inheriting his great-uncle John Mackenzie of Delvine's estates.1 He was created 1st Baronet Muir Mackenzie, of Delvine, co. Perth [U.K.] on 9 November 1805.1 He had seven other daughters.1

     Sophia Matilda Johnstone was born on 9 July 1814.2 She was the daughter of James Raymond Johnstone of Alva and Mary Elizabeth Cholmeley.3,4 She was baptised on 29 September 1814 at Alva, Stirlingshire, Scotland.2 She married Sir John William Pitt Muir Mackenzie of Delvine, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Alexander Muir Mackenzie of Delvine, 1st Bt. and Jane Murray, on 28 August 1832.1 She died on 29 January 1900 at age 85.1
      From 28 August 1832, her married name became Muir Mackenzie.
