Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 2 July 1662.3 He was the son of Sir Robert Pringle of Stichill, 1st Bt. and Margaret Hope.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott was signed on 19 July 1688.1 He died in April 1721 at age 58.1

Magdalen Eliott was the daughter of Sir Gilbert Eliott of Stobs, 1st Bt..2 A contract for the marriage of Magdalen Eliott and Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. was signed on 19 July 1688.1 She died in December 1739.3

Sir John Pringle, 1st and last Bt. was born on 10 April 1707.1 He was the son of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 2nd Bt. and Magdalen Eliott.2 He married Charlotte Oliver, daughter of Dr. unknown Oliver, on 14 April 1752.1 He died on 18 January 1782 at age 74, without issue.1
Sir John Pringle, 1st and last Bt. graduated from Leyden University, Leyden, The Netherlands, in 1730 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1 He held the office of Professor of Moral Philosophy between 1733 and 1744.3 He was Physician to Forces in Flanders in 1744.1 He was created 1st Baronet Pringle [Great Britain] on 5 June 1766.1 He held the office of President of the Royal Society between 1772 and 1778.1 He was Physician to King George III in 1774.3 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
