Sir William Ewart, 1st Bt. was born on 22 November 1817.1 He was the son of William Ewart and Mary Anne Rossman.2 He married Isabella Kelso Mathewson, daughter of Lavens Mathewson, on 10 December 1840.1 He died on 1 August 1889 at age 71.1

(Conservative) for Belfast between 1878 and 1889.1 He was created 1st Baronet Ewart, of Glenmachan, co. Down [U.K.] on 13 September 1887.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1
