Sir Dudley Carleton, 1st and last Viscount Dorchester was born before 1615. He was the son of Anthony Carleton.2 He married Anne Glemham, daughter of Sir Henry Glemham and Lady Anne Sackville, on 14 June 1630.1 He died on 15 February 1631/32, without surviving issue.1
Sir Dudley Carleton, 1st and last Viscount Dorchester held the office of Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.3 He was created 1st Viscount Carleton of Imbercourt, Surrey [England] on 22 May 1626.3 He was created 1st Viscount Dorchester, co. Oxford [England] on 25 July 1628.3
On his death, his titles became extinct.3 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4
