     Sir Francis Hastings was born circa 1545.1 He was the son of Francis Hastings, 2nd Earl of Huntingdon and Catherine Pole.1 He married, firstly, Maud Longford, daughter of Sir Ralph Longford, in 1567.2 He married, secondly, Mary Watkins, daughter of Richard Watkins and Mary Coker, after 1597.3 He died in September 1610, without issue.1,3 He was buried at South Cadbury, Somerset, EnglandG.3

     Joyce Roper was born in 1548.2 She was the daughter of Christopher Roper and Elizabeth Blore.2 She married Walter Hastings, son of Francis Hastings, 2nd Earl of Huntingdon and Catherine Pole, on 22 May 1574 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Covent Garden, London, EnglandG.1,2 She died in 1619 at Leicester, Leicestershire, EnglandG.2 She was also reported to have died in 1616.1
     From 22 May 1574, her married name became Hastings.1
