     Sir Francis Fox was born on 29 June 1844 at Paddington, London, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Fox and Mary Brookhouse.1 He married, firstly, Selina Wright, daughter of Francis Wright and Selina FitzHerbert, in 1869.1 He married, secondly, Agnes Horne, daughter of Henry King Horne, in 1901.1 He died on 7 January 1927 at age 82 at Alyn Bank, Wimbledon, London, EnglandG.1 He was buried at Putney Vale CemeteryG.1
     He was educated between 1855 and 1861 at Cavendish House School, Sherwood, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was a partner of Sir Charles Fox & Sons, civil and consulting engineers.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.)2 He wrote the book River, Road and Rail, published 1904.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1912.1 He wrote the book Sixty-Three Years of Engineering, published 1924.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.1
