Sir Grufudd ap Rhys1

     Sir Grufudd ap Rhys was the son of Sir Rhys ap Thomas and Efa ap Henry.2 He married Catherine St. John, daughter of John St. John, circa 1507.1 He died in 1521.1
     He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1501.1 In 1520 he was present at the Field of the Cloth of Gold.1

     Catherine St. John is the daughter of John St. John.2 She married, secondly, Sir Piers Edgcumbe.2 She married, firstly, Sir Grufudd ap Rhys, son of Sir Rhys ap Thomas and Efa ap Henry, circa 1507.1
      Her married name became Edgcumbe.2

     Griffith Rice was born in 1526.1 He was the son of Rhys ap Griffith and Lady Katharine Howard.2 He married Elinor Jones, daughter of Sir Thomas Jones, in 1541.1 He died in 1592.1
     He held the office of High Sheriff of Carmarthenshire between 1567 and 1583.1 He held the office of Mayor of Carmarthen in 1571.1 He lived at Newton, Carmarthenshire, Wales.1
