     Stephen Eardley-Wilmot was born on 11 August 1887.1 He was the son of Sir William Assheton Eardley-Wilmot, 3rd Bt. and Mary Russell.2 He married Marguerite May Prettie, daughter of Edgar C. Prettie, on 10 July 1923.1 He died on 23 March 1950 at age 62, without issue.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in the service of the Northumberland Fusiliers.1

     He was given the name of Denis Gerard Waterkeyn at birth.1 In June 1962 his name was legally changed to Denis Gerard Howard by Royal Licence.1 He lived in 1967 at Beach House, Fairlie, Ayrshire, Scotland.1

     He was Naval Secretary of the Ordnance Board.1 He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).1
