Sir Gideon Murray was the son of Andrew Murray.2 He married Margaret Pentland, daughter of Dionis Pentland, in June 1587.1 He died on 28 June 1621,, with a daughter (Agnes, married (contract 14 July 1611) Sir William Scott of Harden issue.1
See POLWARTH, L) and two younger sons (both of whose issue became extinct in the next generation), an eldest son.1 On 15 March 1594 acquired Elibank or Eliburne, Selkirkshire, by charter under the Great Seal /5.1 He was knighted , Commissioner of for the Borders 1605–17, one of the New Octavians (ctee of eight persons) controlling Scottish Treasury business 1611, Lord of the Articles for the small Barons 1612, Treasurer Depute 1612, a Lord of Session as Lord Elib in 1605.1 He was Privy Counsellor (P.C.) (S ) in 1610.1

Margaret Pentland is the daughter of Dionis Pentland.2 She married Sir Gideon Murray, son of Andrew Murray, in June 1587.1
But uncompleted before the kirk.1 By contract.1 Her married name became Murray. On 4 June 1601 none the less ruled lawful and the issue legitimate by Edinburgh Commissaries.1

Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank is the son of Sir Gideon Murray and Margaret Pentland.2 He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Sir Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick, on 21 August 1610.1
Sir Patrick Murray, 1st Lord Elibank lived Ettrick Forest.1 Selkirkshire.1 And 1st Lord Elibank (S).1 He gained the title of 1st Lord Elibank.1 He graduated from Oxford Master of Arts (M.A.) ) and Gray's Inn in 1605.1 In 1611 Keeper Caerlaverock Castle , one of the six peers who opposed the handing over of CHARLES I to the E Parl Jan 1646/7.1 On 16 May 1628 so created.1 On 18 March 1643 so created.1
